Mac OS X supports Java 2 out of the box. Apple has also provided Java support for QuickTime, WebObjects, AppleScript, and other core technology. Java support on classic Mac will stop at 1.1.8 although the performance will continue to improve. [FAQ Previously managed by Daniel Steinberg].
